Dr. Phil’s classic car, a 1957 two-door Chevrolet convertible, has been stolen from an auto shop near Burbank, California.
As TMZ reported, the car was in for repairs to its transmission. Dr. Phil and a friend had been working on the car to get it to start, but, when they couldn’t, they decided to take it to a repair shop. It was picked up on a flatbed truck, taken to the shop, and never seen again.
Several hours later, the shop called Dr. Phil to say that his car had been stolen.
The 61-year-old host of Dr. Phil is a loving owner of the Chevy, UPI reported. He has meticulously restored and maintained the black car with white and silver trim, working on the car and its V-8 engine whenever it needed repair, the report said.
Dr. Phil reported the stolen car to police. Law enforcement sources had told TMZ that the robbery was a smash job, with the thieves breaking through a roll-up door at the shop to get to the classic car.
The 1957 Chevy convertible was part of a collection of classic cars maintained by Dr. Phil. He occasionally disposes of the cars on his own like in 2006 when he put a pair of pricy cars up for auction.
The two exotic sports cars, a 2002 Ferrari 360 Spider and a 2001 Gemballa Porsche , were put up for sale at the Barrett-Jackson auction company’s Palm Beach Auction, which runs from March 30 to April 1, CNN reported at the time. The Ferrari was particularly awesome, with a blue convertible top and matching interior and a 395-horsepower V8 engine under the hood.
The other cars probably won’t offer much consolation for the one stolen in Burbank. Dr. Phil’s car was worth an estimated $100,000.
