Last week, Lady Gaga was devastated when she was forced to announce that due to a painful joint inflammation, she was cancelling all the dates on her Born This Way tour.

After being ordered to rest, she took to a wheelchair to get around and shared a picture of her new wheels, which she’s fondly called Emma, with fans on Twitter.

But it looks as though medics have decided on a more drastic course of action than rest because today (Wednesday February 20), she Tweeted: “Going in for surgery now. Thank you so much for sending me love and support. I will be dreaming of you.”

The singing one woman theatre show , who is rather fond of meat dresses, has been diagnosed with synovitis and a tear in her right hip requires the operation.

When she was given the upsetting news, she posted a message on Twitter and Facebook to her ridiculously dedicated fanbase (or Little Monsters as she likes to call them), which read:

“There’s an unfortunate announcement coming out right now, concerning myself and the Born This Way Ball.

“Im so sorry. I barely know what to say. I’ve been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now, over the past month it has worsened.

“I’ve been praying it would heal. I hid it from my staff, I didn’t want to disappoint my amazing fans. However after last nights performance I could not walk and still can’t.

“To the fans in Chicago Detroit & Hamilton I hope you can forgive me, as it is nearly impossible for me to forgive myself.

“Im devastated & sad. It will hopefully heal as soon as possible, I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and Im sorry.”

Gaga had already danced her way through 98 dates of her tour but had 21 left, which fans will receive a refund for.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed her friendship with Emma will be over and she’ll back on stage in 10-inch platforms very, very soon.
