Singer will now perform later in the year after leaving fans disappointed
Alexandra Burke has postponed her upcoming Lady Sings The Blues gigs… because they’re too popular.
The X Factor winner was due to play six shows at the Elgar Room of the Royal Albert Hall in a few weeks’ time, and the shows sold out at an impressive pace.
Now, after many fans were reportedly left disappointed by the lack of availability, she has pushed the whole thing back to later in the year.
A statement reads: “Due to an overwhelming demand for tickets, Alexandra Burke has decided to postpone her June ‘Lady Sings The Blues’ concerts and re-schedule the performances for later this year, at additional venues.
“Tickets for the six dates at the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room sold out within hours, with many fans disappointed, so these new dates, to be announced soon, will allow more fans to see and enjoy the shows.”
Alexandra is set to perform the soundtrack to the 1972 Billie Holiday film with a full jazz band; which she described as an “honour”.
“It is an honour to be able to sing Billie Holiday’s songs and I feel a very strong emotional attachment to them,” she said when the residency was first announced. “Music is my life and I love doing different and surprising things, so I can’t wait to get on stage and sing these amazing and timeless songs.”
Alexandra’s last pop album Heartbreak On Hold was released last year; the follow-up to her 2009 debut Overcome.
