People Magazine reports that Avril, 27, and Chad, 37, first met in February when the two co-wrote a song for Avril’s upcoming album. A friend of Avril’s tells the magazine, “A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together.”
Chad proposed on Aug. 8 with a 14-carat diamond sparkler. This will be Chad’s first marriage, while it will be Avril’s second. She divorced Sum 41 lead singer Deryck Whibley in 2009.
