Your hair is your crowning glory. Maintain it and it will shine for all to see. You don’t necessarily require expensive treatments or salon visits to manage your hair effectively. You can do much by yourself.
Diet: Consider your diet for beautiful, healthy hair. Your hair reflects your inner self. A balanced, nutritious diet will shine your hair better than shampoo or conditioner. Also, drink 8–10 glasses of water daily—hair contains 25% water—don’t let it get thirsty!
Cleanliness and Drying: After washing, use an absorbent towel to soak up extra moisture and dry your hair at the room’s ambient temperature without rubbing. Try to avoid blow-drying, flat irons, curling irons, and hot rollers. Hair will become brittle and damaged with artificial heating. Be natural wherever possible.
Brushing: Use the correct hairbrush to avoid hair damage. Wet hair should be combed from end to root with a wide-tooth comb without contacting the root. A strong steel comb can harm damp hair, so don’t detangle it!
Splitting: Gently twist tiny portions of hair downward to remove trichoptilosis, or split ends. Split ends will protrude. To remove damaged cuticles and leave a natural layered look, carefully cut into the twisted portion with sharp scissors without cutting through. Balance the effect by cutting each twist about the same.
Final Tips: A few basic tips can delay or reverse hair loss, but they won’t fix the cause. Daily biotin-rich banana smoothies with honey, yoghurt, and low-fat milk can rejuvenate hair follicles. Vitamin B6, zinc, and saw palmetto may assist, although stress reduction and sleep may be better.
Care for yourself first and your hair will show it.
