Chris Brown’s representative shot down rumors that the singer was arrested for weapons possession at the BET Awards in Los Angeles Sunday night.

Several reports surfaced online, including one from X17 Online, which cited Twitter users as saying that Brown was arrested for carrying a gun at The Shrine Auditorium.

“Completely not true. I was with Chris all night. Nothing of the sort happened. He performed and won 2 awards — walked off stage with Samuel L. Jackson to close the show,” Brown’s representative Jeff Raymond told OnTheRedCarpet.com.

The reports speculated that Brown carried a weapon to protect himself against a possible confrontation with rapper Drake. The two artists reportedly got into an altercation at a New York City nightclub last month.

Drake and Brown left the scene before police arrived at 4 a.m. on June 14. It is unclear what started the fight, though both musicians have both dated Rihanna in the past.

Eight people were injured the night of the fight, including Brown, who Tweeted a photo of a gash on his chin before deleting it, his girlfriend, bodyguard and San Antonio Spurs basketball player Tony Parker, who has since filed a lawsuit against the nightclub.
