The actor and screenwriter’s spokesperson confirmed the news to and People magazine saying, “Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage.”

Theroux turned 41 on August 10.

Aniston, 43, and Theroux, have been romantically linked since May 2011. The actors starred alongside each other in the film “Wanderlust.”

This will be the second marriage for Aniston, who was previously married to Brad Pitt. Aniston and Pitt wed in 2000. In 2005, rumors of a romantic affair between Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the set of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” began circulating in the tabloids. Anniston and Pitt divorced in 2005.

Pitt and Jolie stepped out together publicly in 2005. The two are parents to three adopted children, Maddox, Pax and Zahara, and three biological children, Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne.

The couple confirmed their engagement in April, after Jolie was photographed on Wednesday wearing a large diamond ring at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).

Rumors of Pitt and Jolie’s wedding stirred up on August 11, but were later denied by French officials.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Aniston has signed on to play a prostitute in the film “We’re the Millers.”

The dark comedy is slated for release in 2013 and stars Sudeikis as a pot dealer who is attempting to smuggle a large amount of marijuana across the Mexican border. Aniston portrays a prostitute he hires to pose as his wife.
