It looks like DJ Khaled had most of us fooled when he popped the question to Nicki Minaj this week with a 10-carat diamond ring, as the ‘Super Bass’ rapper has finally addressed the proposal and admits that it was all a ruse for Khaled to promote his new album ‘Suffering From Success.’

Khaled became a trending topic around the world on Twitter last week when he asked Nicki for her hand in marriage in a filmed segment for MTV, in which he declares his love for the curvaceous rapper, claiming he “wants” and “needs” her.

“You need a man like me in your life that’s gonna take care of you and respect you. You gotta take your time and think about it, I understand… but I know I have to be here today to let you know how serious I am and about how serious this is to me,” Khaled says in the video.

“I want to let your fans know, my fans know, my family, your family, that I wanna marry you.”

He then opens a small box to reveal a rather large, blinging engagement ring which was reportedly 10-carat and valued at around $500,000.

Nicki, 29, then sparked rumours that she had accepted the proposal after she was seen out and about over the weekend sporting a huge diamond rock on her ring finger. However, it seems the Young Money starlet is still on the market as she reveals that it wasn’t a serious proposal.

“I was shocked just like the rest of the world and I was cracking up laughing with the rest of the world ’cause Khaled is a master at what he does,” Nicki said during an interview with Funkmaster Flex for Hot 97.

“Nobody in my real life took it seriously. Everybody just hit me like, ‘LOL. Yo, Khaled is crazy.’ Khaled is my brother and Khaled was not serious with that damn proposal, ya’ll. Please let it go. He was kidding. He’s not attracted to me, he doesn’t like me. We’re brother and sister.”

Confirming that it was all a publicity stunt, Nicki continued: “It was just another way for him to kinda give the world a glimpse on the feeling of this record.”
