Heck yeah he was scared! Tom Cruise is celebrated for pulling off his own insanely manly stunts – but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t get nervous. Case in point: a stunt in Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, in which the star hangs on the side of a plane 5,000 feet in the air.

I was scared s—tless! Cruise told the audience on Tuesday, April 21, at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, while playing footage of that harrowing scene. As always, I will do everything I can to entertain an audience and put as many people into your theaters…I’m an aerobatic pilot and I’ve always wanted to do that, he added to the room full of studio execs.

It’s really a dream come true, Cruise, 52, said of the franchise’s fifth installment, which hits theaters July 31. This movie has a tremendous amount of action of course, but also intrigue and mission twists.
To perform the death-defying stunt — which he filmed eight times — Cruise wore a special pair of glasses to protect his eyes from the high-velocity winds and dealth with low temperatures, birds, and fumes from the jet fuel.

He’s actually out there doing these things, Rob Moore, Vice Chairman of Paramount Pictures, added. He really did it.
