Canadian Ski Racer Nick Zoricic Dies Tragically At World Cup After Crash

Nick Zoricic, a 29-year-old ski racer from Canada, passed away this morning after a fatal crash during the World Cup in Switzerland. What a tragedy.

Nick Zoricic

This is horrible. During a race at the World Cup being held in Grindelwald, Switzerland March 10, Nick Zoricic, a ski racer from Toronto, crashed into the safety nets and died. He was only 29.

Nick suffered major skull and brain trauma due to the crash and was airlifted to an Interlaken hospital, where he was pronounced dead after nearly an hour of doctors trying to resuscitate him.

This is the second death of a Canadian ski pro in 2012. In January, freestyle skier, Sarah Burke, tragically lost her life in an accident as well.

The World Cup was cancelled for the rest of March 10, as well as March 11 at that course. Our hearts and well wishes go out to Nick’s family and friends during this horrible time.
