Conor McGregor, a former mixed martial arts champion, has declared his intention to run for president of Ireland.

The martial arts celebrity is always criticizing “illegal immigration” in his nation, which he wants to “save.” The millionaire wants to take use of his fame and closeness to President Donald Trump, even though he was convicted of rape.

Conor McGregor, a former MMA star, has already started a “Save Ireland Now!” campaign on social media.

Conor is attempting to persuade prospective voters after he made his riches through a series of victories in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). His main weapon is the fight against immigration.

On March 17, in honor of Ireland’s national festival, St. Patrick’s Day, Donald Trump invited him to the Oval Office.

The former champion used the occasion to publicly attack the immigration policies of the Irish government.

He had previously spoken his political views in 2023 during Dublin’s anti-immigration riots, which were sparked by a knife attack on young children by a foreign-born Irishman.

With earnings of 170 million euros, Forbes magazine ranked Conor McGregor the highest-paid athlete in the world in 2020.

In November 2024, a Dublin judge ordered him to pay a woman who claimed he had “brutally raped and beat” her in a hotel in 2018 close to 250,000 euros in damages. He was also sued in the USA for another sexual attack on a lady in Florida.

Since the Irish constitution mandates that contenders first obtain the support of 20 Members of Parliament or four communities, Irish journalist Justine McCarthy believes that “the fighter won’t be president any time soon.” Thus, there is little probability that Conor McGregor will run.
