Meta, who is about to face the court system in the United States, is accused of abusing its dominant position.

The initial complaint was submitted during the first administration of Donald Trump, which was five years ago. a legal action that has the potential to wipe out Meta’s two platforms, Instagram and Whatsapp.

Through the acquisition of Instagram in 2012 for a price of $1 billion and WhatsApp in 2014 for a price of $19 billion, the court will be required to demonstrate that Meta, which was once known as Facebook, misused its dominating position.

Additionally, the agency will spotlight emails that were sent by Mark Zuckerberg. A letter that the founder of Facebook had written prior to the takeover of the image-sharing network, which today has 2 billion users, stated that “Instagram’s potential impact is really scary and that is why we should consider paying a lot of money.”

In the past few years, the United States government has initiated five significant antitrust proceedings in the technology sector. The Meta lawsuit is one of these lawsuits.

In August of last year, a court found Google guilty of exploiting its dominant position in the online search market. Apple and Amazon are also being sued for their abuse of their strong position.
