Kim Kardashian wore a controversial floral gown by Riccardo Tisci at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 6, celebrating the opening of PUNK: Chaos to Couture in NYC. While boyfriend Kanye West urged her to ignore the haters in his performance at the Gala, it was the pressure of impressing the high fashion crowd that almost stopped Kim from attending!
Kim Kardashian Terrified Before Met Ball
A source tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, “Kim was super nervous about going to the Met Ball. She was really excited when Kanye first invited her, but finding the right dress turned into a huge nightmare. She was looking at stuff for months, but it was hard to choose because what she felt comfortable in kept changing.”
Kim, 32, had reason to be nervous — she’s been ridiculed repeatedly for her questionable maternity wear.
Our source adds, “Even when she’s not pregnant, being around that high fashion crowd freaks Kim out. She knows how judgmental they are, she wanted to impress them, but she always ends up feeling out of place. Kim was so nervous that she even talked about not going, but that would have really upset Kanye. And obviously it’s a huge deal to get invited to this, she didn’t want to let her insecurities stop her!”
Kim Kardashian Makes Nice With Anna Wintour
Before this year, Kim was allegedly banned from the Met Ball by Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, who’s reportedly said that Kim is “the worst thing since socks and sandals.” However, it seems that the tides have shifted, because Kim and Kanye dined at Anna’s house on May 5, one night before the annual event.
