President Putin visits China to deepen partnership with Chinese President Xi

Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to meet with Xi Jinping in China this week during Belt and Road Forum in Beijing on Oct. 17-18 to deepen cooperation between United States’s two biggest strategic rivals.

China and Russia declared a no limits partnership during President Putin’s visit to Beijing in February 2022.

President Putin has spent most of his time in Russia since the Ukraine war, but last year he visited Iran for talks with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

President Putin will definitely be the guest of honor, Gabuyev said, adding that they would discuss military and nuclear cooperation.

Noted that this is Putin first trip outside Russia since the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for him in March over the deportation of children from Ukraine.

As US President Joe Biden argues that this century will be characterized by a struggle for survival between democracies and autocracies, the US has called China its biggest competitor and Russia its biggest threat to nation-states.
