Music festival has been cancelled due to the weather
We all hate the rain but for Cher Lloyd and a host of other stars due to perform this weekend’s MFEST concert they definitely won’t be fans.
The former X Factor contestant, The Human League, Texas and Bob Geldof were all planned to play the two-day MFEST festival at Harewood House in Leeds but due to bad weather conditions the event has now been cancelled.
Cher Lloyd tweeted fans earlier today (July 6): ”Just found out @TheMFEST has been cancelled due to the terrible weather up North. Such a shame, it was going to be an amazing festival”
In a statement, the event organisers said: “It is with our deepest regret that due to the adverse weather conditions leading up to this event in conjunction with the extreme weather warning as issued by the Met Office for the weekend, we were left with no other decision than to abandon this weekend’s MFEST.
“The public’s health and safety is of paramount concern, therefore it would be irresponsible to continue no matter how disappointed we all are.
“Information on ticket refunds will be issued on Monday 9th July.”
Meanwhile, thousands of festival-goers will be wearing their wellies as they head to this weekend’s T In The Park in Scotland.
The met office has updated its forecast for T in the Park on its website, and it looks as though festival goers will need to pack their waterproofs and wellies, as torrential rainfall has been predicted.
Festival goers might have to deal with up to 40mm of rain that could fall in over two hours tonight, as well as thunder and hail hitting the area.
More rain will fall later this afternoon and it seems T In The Park could even out do the Isle of Wight in terms of mud and mayhem. Saturday and Sunday don’t look promising either, with rain forecast to fall on both of those days as well.
