LONDON (AP) — The English Football Association is considering new rules governing conduct and eligibility of players in response to the case of a player trying to resume his career after serving time for rape.

Although Ched Evans is eligible to resume his career, clubs have rejected the chance to sign the former Manchester City and Sheffield United striker since he was released from jail in October.

Evans was convicted of raping a 19-year-old woman in a hotel room.

FA chairman Greg Dyke says the case shows it’s important to look at the issue of behavior and attitudes … and responsibilities that come with being a participating member of the national game.

Dyke says the case will be considered as part of a review of behavior by football officials and players, and he is hoping for future guidelines or codes of conduct.
