Her contestant Sera Hill performs with ‘strippers’…
Never a shrinking violet herself, Christina Aguilera seemingly wants to mould her own contestants on The Voice in her own risqué image, as the singer hired a group of shirtless male dancers to spice up Sera Hill’s performance on the first live show.
Yet the move almost backfired with the other judges, who struggled to get past the fact that Hill was performing Drake’s “Find You Love” in front of a slew of naked torsos. The scenes brought back
memories of Aguilera’s own 2002 single ‘Dirrty’, the video to which featured scantily clad dancers and imagery suggestive of various sexual fetishes. Hill was more conservatively dressed than her mentor however, donning a white suit to perform.
Aguilera’s fellow judge Blake Shelton said: “It’s hard to get past the male strippers that were on stage, but [Sera] did great. I mean, there were male strippers on the stage for Gods sake. There were male strippers on The Voice!”
Aguilera was more complimentary, saying “You looked like a diva in training. You owned it up there.” Perhaps Christina wanted to get out from behind the desk and join in the fun, although she stayed professional and remained demurely behind her desk, leaving the spotlight to Sera and her muscular accompaniment.
