In the survey of over 10,000 professionals, 85% said they consume at least three cups of coffee a day, and almost 70% said their job performance would be affected if they worked without having any coffee at all. The survey also found that men drink more coffee than women, but only 5% more.

Higher stress jobs, including those in media, police and teachers drank the most coffee, with retail staff and professional drivers taking the bottom of the list.

According to Pressat, research done by the University of South Carolina recommended that coffee drinkers not exceed over 200mg of caffeine a day, the equivalent of two to four cups of coffee. Exceeding this amount can increase health risks, such as anxiety, strokes and heart problems.

Unfortunately, according to Pressat’s data, most Americans already drink at least three cups a day and more than 62% of workers surveyed in the poll were not aware of these health risks.
