The “NPP” minority caucus in “Parliament is pushing for immediate electoral” reforms. It says all parties are advocating a new voter’s register since the 2012 register is flawed. The group said this at a news conference in Accra, in what it termed, the true state of the nation address.
Addressing the meeting, the Minority Leader “Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu” commended the EC for work done over the years, but was quick to add that their success has been largely based on the tolerance of Ghanaians and not because the commission’s efficiency has been squeaky clean.
Zooming in on the roads sector, Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said the track record of government gives a bleak picture of the number of kilometers it can construct.
He said the amount of money spent on constructing roads since 2009 does not match up to the number of kilometers tarred, juxtaposing it to what the Kufuor government did. He said the same can be said of road maintenance.
On trade and industry, Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said Ghana has lost its investor confidence due to the power crisis and the weakening of the cedi.
